Vestibular & Balance Testing is Easy

Balance Testing

If you have complaints of dizziness, vertigo, or difficulty walking or concentrating, you may have vestibular dysfunction.

The balance system is comprised primarily of the somatosensory system, the vision system, and the vestibular system.  Below is a test that isolates the vestibular system through disadvantaging the vision and somatosensory systems.

Note:  This test is administered by trained physical therapists.  Please do not attempt at home alone.

1.  Step onto middle of the pad with feet together and arms crossed over chest.

2. Close your eyes and count down from 10. (Our clinicians guard you to ensure your safety)

The Physical Therapist looks for positive results such as deviating from initial crossed arm position, opening eyes to correct balance, feet movement, and loss of balance.

How Confident are YOU?

“When I tested Dr. D he was in shock that he had a vestibular dysfunction! Left intrigued, he took it upon himself to start testing his own patients during their initial visit. That’s what this is about. Taking prevention seriously as healthcare providers, giving our patients tools for success, and ultimately providing them with the same level of confidence that we have as FYZICAL therapists. Balance can be improved at any age; that’s the beauty of it.” – Savannah McRae
